Charice Beats Justin Bieber for Best New Artist

Yep! You read it right. The Biebster has finally met his match, according to Teen.com, because Charice walked home with the J-Wave Mcdonald’s Tokio Hot 100 award for Best New Artist on February 24th. I knew Justin was making a mistake in not appearing on Glee.
The Biebster got no J-Wave love during the rest of the night either, as Superfly’s ‘Wildflower’ won Best Song, Exile was named Best Group, and JUJU was named Best Female Artist. What’s that you say? What about Best Male Artist? That award went to Hata Motohiro, which was probably no surprise to anyone since this was his third year in a row to win that title.
The annual awards show uses listener’s votes to choose the year’s best song and artists, with seven nominees being named for the five award categories. In order to be nominated, the songs and artists had to be in the Top 100 of 2010. 18,661 votes that came in from January 9th to February 6th were counted to decide the winners.
I know everyone has an opinion about Charice smacking down the Biebster, although I’m sure he’s too busy enjoying the release of Never Say Never: The Director’s Fan Cut to worry about it. Drop down to the comments and share what you think.
